Change My Stars...Week 3

This week we worked on words dealing with Home and Community. This week's theme was such a great way to get the kids to think about their future and who they want to be when they grow up. One of the crafts was to draw themselves in the profession they are aiming towards. Most of the boys want to be baseball players and it was so cute to see their drawings. One of the girls drew herself as mom, it was the sweetest thing I have ever seen!

This week went by very efficiently and so fast! More and more kids share what they learn and our opening up to us volunteers. They seem more confident in saying the english words and trying to make up sentences than the first week, which is such great progress.

Another thing that happened this week was Tropical Storm Chantal, this wasn't a great thing because many of the kids didn't show up and one day we had to cut camp short. However, the rain storm was so pretty, watching the lighting strike has always been beautiful to me (Evelyn).

We tried to use this week to push the campers to dream big, to understand what is a part of their community, and what makes it work. By learning English these children have more of a chance to have a better job and a better future.
